How are Electrical Cable Winch cables fixed?

1、 Basic principle of cable fixation
The fixation of cables is mainly based on mechanical principles and the characteristics of cable materials. The fixation of cables on the reel requires overcoming the weight of the cable, external forces, and displacement caused by thermal expansion and contraction, to ensure that the cable does not fall off or be damaged during the rolling and releasing process. At the same time, the fixing method also needs to consider the bending radius and tension control of the cable to avoid excessive pressure or damage to the cable.
2、 Common cable fixing methods
In Electrical Cable Winch, there are various ways to fix cables, including the following:
Rigid fixation
Rigid fixation is the use of fastening fixtures or buckles to firmly fix the cable onto the drum. This method is suitable for scenarios where the cable diameter is large, the weight is heavy, or there is a need to withstand significant axial thrust. Rigid fixation can ensure that cables do not bend or deform during the rolling and releasing process, preventing local stress concentration caused by thermal expansion and contraction. However, rigid fixation requires a high bending radius for cables, and a too small bending radius may lead to cable damage.
Flexible fixation
Flexible fixation allows cables to produce certain displacement under thermal expansion or external force, which is absorbed by elastic clamps or waveform laying. Flexible fixation is usually suitable for scenarios where cables have small diameters, are lightweight, or require frequent winding and releasing. It can reduce the internal stress caused by thermal expansion and contraction of cables, and extend the service life of cables. Meanwhile, flexible fixation also has a certain shock-absorbing effect, which can protect the cable from external impact.
Wrap and fix
Wrapping fixation is to wrap the Electrical Cable Winch cable in multiple layers around the surface of the drum, and fix the cable on the drum through friction. This method is simple and cost-effective, but attention should be paid to the winding direction and tension control of the cable. Incorrect winding method or excessive tension may cause damage to the cable during the winding process.
Buckle fixation
Buckle fixation is the use of specialized buckles or fixtures to secure cables in specific positions on the reel. Buckle fixation has the advantages of easy installation and firm fixation, suitable for scenarios that require quick installation and disassembly. However, the selection and installation position of the buckle need to be accurately calculated to ensure that the cable is not subjected to excessive stress during the rolling and releasing process.
Welding fixation
In some special cases, such as when a cable and a drum need to maintain a fixed connection for a long time, welding fixation can be used. Welding fixation has the advantages of being firmly fixed and not easily detached, but attention should be paid to controlling the damage and deformation of cable materials during the welding process.
3、 Precautions in practical operation
In practical operation, attention should be paid to the following points when fixing cables:
Choose the appropriate fixing method
Choose the appropriate fixing method based on the specifications, purpose, and working environment of the Electrical Cable Winch cable. Ensure that the fixing method can meet the requirements of cable fixation and protect the cable from damage.
Control the bending radius of the cable
When fixing Electrical Cable Winch cables, it is necessary to strictly control the bending radius of the cable to avoid cable damage caused by too small a bending radius. Meanwhile, it is also necessary to pay attention to the tension control of the cable to avoid excessive tension causing damage to the cable.
Regular inspection and maintenance
Regularly inspect and maintain cable reels and fixing devices to ensure that the cables are securely and stably fixed. Promptly identify and address potential issues to prevent cable detachment or damage caused by the failure of fixing devices.
Follow safety operating procedures
During the operation, it is necessary to follow safety operating procedures to ensure the personal safety of operators and the normal operation of cable reels. At the same time, attention should be paid to the storage and protection of cables to avoid damage during storage.
